My manager the other employees in the workplace have a meeting about one situation can be forced?

Request merely by A Bad Trip: Can my manager force me and another employee to have a meeting about a situation that happened at work?

Basically, I got injured on the job and I told the manager on duty and she now says she didn’t recall me telling her…Our store manager is making the two of us meet with her to discuss the situation. The problem is it creates a hostile and confrontational meeting because my manger wants me to say my side of the story in front of the other manager and vice versa. I feel very uneasy and sort of harassed by the whole situation. Can she make us have this “meeting”? Any answers would be awesome. Thank you.

You don’t need to have this meeting. Tell your manager that your attorney will be handling the situation.

Kaitlyn,

Nice, but maybe you should tell this guy he might get fired for insubordiation.

You ABSOLUTELY can be told to attend a meeting on the clock. There is ZERO excuse to miss it. Man up and go.

Answer by Dr. Snark

Your manager can’t “force” you to do anything. However, if they ask you to attend a meeting and you fail to do so you can certainly be fired for cause.

What’s so uncomfortable about telling the truth and trying to jar someone’s memory of you telling them you were injured? If they don’t say they remember, you’ll have exposed a liar. If you don’t go you’ll get no medical care for the injury and can be fired for insubordination. If they are paying you, you must show up.

Answer by Anakin

I would only feel harassed (and fearful) IF I was lying.

If you WEREN’T lying, you should feel more confident than the other party. Go for it!!

so because you are uncomfortable you think you can waste the time of your manager by having 2 separate meetings one with you and one with the other? your manager wants you to meet together so that it can end faster, and the situation can be solved face to face. it doenst HAVE to be a hostile meeting, you are all adults here, so just act like it.

you dont have to go, nonetheless but you possibly will be fired for it
